Major Russian Strikes Disrupt Electricity Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have faced increased attacks in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused power cuts in multiple districts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Several individuals were injured while residents in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and encountered disruption to water systems, per reports from city officials.

Simultaneously, a young boy was lost their life in a distinct Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, according to area administrators.

Moscow has escalated attacks on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while the country's government has requested "concrete actions" from allies to exert influence on Russia.

"What is required is not superficial actions but strong steps - from the America, the EU and the major economies - in delivering protection systems and enforcing restrictions," he wrote in a online statement.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty rockets targeted the country's power systems, labeling such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as the weather cools.

Government representatives said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were laboring to restore power.

A series of attacks hit power facilities and residential structures in the capital.

Multiple people wounded in the assaults on the city have been hospitalized, according to municipal representatives.

Regional authorities said the metropolitan region endured significant strikes throughout the evening. A minor died and multiple civilians were hurt.

The assaults come after periods of aerial attacks in the territory, sections of which remain under the control of invading troops.

All of Ukraine is in a state of readiness for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are harder to detect.

Government officials told the media that Russia was purposely seeking to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already disrupting fuel infrastructure.

Authorities confirmed energy workers and authorities were anticipating further attacks.
